I will be wearing a money belt whilst in Africa..but was wondering the following:
On some occasions we are spending a few days at the same lodge. Should we still carry our passports and official documents with us at all times, or do lodges generally offer to hold these for us..and if so, is that safe?
We will be staying at the Mara Sopa Lodge, Lake Nakuru Lodge, and also Ol Tukai Lodge...thanks, Mia

As you'll be in lodges, most have safe deposit boxes at their Reception areas. So inquire on arrival.
When not available, you can keep passport and airline tickets in the same "money belt" as currency... there's sufficient room. Actually, I always have my backpack with me, so my life is contained within.
If you use safe deposit boxes, do remember to clean them out when departing for next location.

When there are in room safes (seldom) I use them. I have sometimes used reception safes but my main fear is that I'll forget and leave the place without our passports.
Most of the time, I just keep the passports on me in a messenger type bag that I carry. Besides passports, what other official documents are there unless you have paper airline tickets?

Flight coupons/vouchers - yes. Though simply advising your name located on manifest will do. Often your guide or transfer driver sees to it that you're checked in properly at airports (Wilson, Arusha) and/or at airstrips.
Lodging vouchers - no. Your guide has these if on a driving safari and will see to it that you're checked in; if flying, the lodge/camp to which you are heading are well aware that you are expected... they're there to retrieve you.
Less papers to have to remember when departing from home; carrying around with you while on safari.
