safety of american tourists in kenya

Hello, we've heard that its unsafe for american tourists in Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania right now. We're headed to these 3 countries in December. Should we reschedule to avoid these areas? Or postpone our trip? Can anyone shed some light? THANK YOU for your response.

My son and his class group (mainly Americans with some British and other nationalities mixed in) just came back from Tanzania. We had not heard of any issues, and they didn't have any problems.

THere are often advisories for these countries. Shoot - there was one when we went to Kenya and Tanzania 5 years ago. Others who have more experience will be your best source, but I think as long as you maintain your "street smarts" you should be fine.

Go and don't worry about anything at all. Just don't walk around Nairobi at night.

hari, are you from Philadelphia? I remember that you are an eagles fan. I'm sorry for you (actually, I'm kidding, I love Philadelphia, used to live outside it, and dated a guy at Penn many years ago) or is this too personal a question for this anonymous forum?

Hi momliz,

No, i'm from India. I went to university in Philly (back in the 90's)

Hence, the Eagles .... (yes, we stink this year!!!) but, you never know we usually turn it around after a shaky start.
