Taxi or arranged transfers from train stations to riads?
DH and I will be traveling by train from Casablanca to Rabat, then on to Meknes, Fes, and Marrakech. In each city we will be staying at a riad in the old medina area. Would it be best to arrange with our riads to have someone pick us up from the train stations and transport us to the riads, or should we just try to get petit taxis at each train station? It seems like at least in Fes and Marrakech we might want to pre-arrange a pick-up? But I have no idea how much something like this should cost. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

More often than not you can't get to the door of a medina riad in a car or taxi as the streets are pedestrian (except scooters/motorcycles, the bane of medinas). Ask the management if that's so and request either a pickup at the station or they'll have someone meet your taxi at a prearranged drop-off location and walk you from there. All very routine.

We were just in Marrakech and Fez staying in Riads. In both cases we arranged our transportation with the Riad (one trip was from the airport/the other from Casablanca). We had more than carry on luggage so appreciated the porter who was waiting for us with a cart. Also depending upon your Riad - it might not be the easiest to find!
Our transport from the airport to the Riad in Marrakech was 18E.

If you're staying in any medina in Morocco, you should always first try to arrange the transfer through your riad. Many of these are in pedestrian-only areas, so the driver needs to know the closest access point, and as others have said, it helps to have a porter to assist with your luggage, which you definitely won't have with a regular taxi. Once you get your bearings, then a regular taxi will be just fine. The riad can also arrange your transfer back to the train station/airport.
