Thanks for the reply. Although having only 25 posts on the left makes the situation worse, I already simply skipped all of the "safari" type threads. If I ever decide to take that kind of trip, then I'd skip the others.... And I definitely agree about not cutting the country list. I'm hoping to finally make it to Central Asia, and perhaps Iran, for my next trip, so I will definitely be looking at threads for less "popular" countries.

Thanks for the follow up--we certainly wouldn't remove ANY of the topics (and we have no plans to remove any of the tags either). Just thought I would mention it as I did receive some feedback at launch that the dropdown lists were too long and had too many countries with hardly any topics. I feel like removing these tags only encourage people to post less about these countries so I'm all for keeping them. Sorry for the scare--!

While it's not at the top of my priority list, when I need a little "brain" break I often do searches for older topics that weren't correctly tagged in the first place. I often find topics for these "less popular" countries that haven't been tagged. Same goes for trip reports.

Whew - thank you Katie! you scared me there for a minute and I thought I'd be dropping out of the forum until I can go on safari again!

Thanks, Katie. And Maxwell, your reports were the ones I was thinking about when I mentioned not forgetting the "non-safari" countries. I certainly used the safari-oriented threads a lot when planning my own trips, but honestly my favorite reports to read for fun are the ones like yours, to "less popular" places.

maxwell--just clicked on your member name and looked over your trip reports again. I remember tagging these; so great--

Hi Katie

When facilities and opportunity permit, I would like to see the A/ME forum split. Nearly without exception they serve two different spheres of influence. I also agree with some posters about extending the 25 posts on the side to a greater number. I used to like the "50" before the change.

Thanks also for your efforts to improve this board to make it better for the users. I think we all understand you can't please all the people all the time. We all appreciate your willingness to pass on decisions and their rationale to us.

thanks again
