Split up the Africa/Mid East forum?
The idea has come up (http://www.fodors.com/community/afri...s-botswana.cfm) to split up the Africa/mid East forum into Africa south of the Sahara and northern Africa/mid East. That way the pyramid people can have their pyramid threads, and the animal lovers can have theirs.
What does everyone think?

But I love both the Pyramids and the animals .... so I read both.
When I scroll and see something of interest on Africa... I read it, the same for Egypt.

I also sign up for the split forum... Some of the names already signed in above are not familiar to me from the southern Africa threads, perhaps suggesting that northern Africa / Middle East folks are also in favor of this idea...

Postings in this forum seem to be equally divided between cultural interests, pyramids, and wildlife, safari. This is an enough difference in scope of interests to justify splitting. IMHO. Very much unlike say Europe or USA forums where 95% postings are cultural related.
The limitation of easily seeing 25 postings is another reason. A posting can drop out of sight very quickly and I doubt if many people go back looking (I don't). A poster (which forum?) complained - "My recent trip report dropped like a bomb out of site." I'd also be disappointed if my trip report which I'd spent hours on writing did same. Not the way to encourage forum participation.
I hope all readers of the forum join in on this (either way). If Fodors sees only 11 (so far) people who care, they will conclude that it is fine as is with the other 100(?) here.
regards - tom

Like Percy, I too tend to read threads from both regions. I'd be fine with having it split, though, for the reason cary stated - the limit of 25 threads displayed on the left. I hardly ever go back beyond that anymore (I used to regularly on the old boards). So yes, it means things fall off the radar screen too quickly - splitting the board would help.

I also read and reply to all - North, South and Middle East - so vote NO.
But do vote YES that there has got to be more than 25 threads on the first screen. I rarely scan past this first screen and haven't the foggiest what lies beneath!

FWIW - katie says that they are working on an easier way to navigate between the lists of threads for one day, so the 25 thread limitation should be less of a hassle. I, myself, really like the lists of all the threads for one day, but it is hard to jump around them.
