Tangos is in the Bergvliet area which means that it is about 25 minutes outside of the city centre. It is slightly out of the way by normal CapeTown standards BUT definitley worth the effort to go there. Very much of a family type restaurant and to my knowledge it is open for lunch and dinner. Not 100% sure of the open for lunch function and will check this tomorrow with the restaurant. If I dont respond further then you know it is open.
Great fish at this venue and DEFINITELY NOT part of the tourist route in that its is as local as they come.
Enjoy.

LLC,
Have just put the phone down from Tangos and I have to report that they are NOT open for lunch. They only serve dinner 7 days a week. Tel: 021 712 6631
Enjoy the restaurant if you visit it. Ask for Musselcracker - Wonderful fish

One of the most wonderful and unique dining experiences we've ever had was at Serendipity in Wilderness(about 20 minutes west of Knysna). Fine dining in the formal living room of the chef's own lovely home. There were only about 5 tables in all and a staff of two servers. An elegant and delicious five course meal paired perfectly with South African wines. The cost was 1/3 of what we would pay here in the US. We are foodies and this was the highlight of our South African epicurean experience.

OSC,
We stayed at Wilderness Manor and they booked reservations at Serendipity for us. They were also listed in a South Africa restaurant guide, similar to Zagat, but I can't remember the name. It's worth picking up one to assist you with other dining while on the trip.
By the way, Wilderness Manor was a wonderful place to stay- we were there for four nights. The guest house was very beautiful with large elegantly decorated rooms. The owners were so friendly and served a delicious breakfast.
