People! (As my 10th grade English teacher would scream.)
Now that you've had your fun, please please please don't use colored type, overuse exclamation points, TYPE IN ALL CAPS, or go emoticon crazy.
I feel as strongly about this as Tom feels about his preview. 8-X

<lime> Actually, I believe we would have to blame Safarimama, who started it all by posing the question:
"I would've loved to put the names of the books in bold, but how???"
and then Momliz for providing us with the html formatting website! </lime>

Safarimama and Canadianrobin,
Proper style for book titles is in quotes, so the whole question about bold was moot anyhow.
MY fault, Tom? I think not. I was not the one who invaded this thread with little green aliens and >s and #s and &s.
Back to my taxes...

Book titles are underlined or italicized.
Journal articles are in quotes.

Depends on what stylebook you're using. Since I'm a journalist type, I'm used to newspaper style. Which is quotes. Example:

MLA is a more academic stylebook.

In reply to Tom's link above the title of the book is both italics and <bubold/>:
Citing a Book Format: Author’s last name, first name and middle name or initial (if any). Book Title (underlined or italicized). City of publication: Publishers, Date of publication. this doesn't show the bold
My point not well taken. I give up!!!

See safarimama? That's why quotes are better. You don't have to worry about italic or bold or underline. And it's more readable (less clutter, distraction), which is why publications use it. Readability always comes first.

In my exploring around here, another Fodorite has written a good primer of HTML and its use on Fodors.
