Magazines pertaining to African Travel

In the midwest U.S. bookstores and magazine stands are lacking any travel-related periodicals, much less anything with an African bent.

From a "general" standpoint I'm familiar with
National Geographic Traveler
Conde Nast Traveler
Travel + Leisure
Escape

I noticed in the post below that Africa Geographic was mentioned and recommended. What others exist, or other travel magazines are recommended?

I adore Travel Mag - my only complaint is it doesn't come out often enough! It's hard waiting 3 months for the next issue!

I am with you on that one, Kavey. I "haunt" the bookstore where I buy Africa Travel magazine. When I know the new issue is out, I float in and out of the bookstore like a ghost. And the moment I see it on the shelf, I pounce on it, grab it, thumb through it and then carry that precious cargo home. What can I say - I'm hooked!!!

I subscribe! I couldn't take the risk of missing one!

I went to the Destinations show a while back and they had a stand offering one free back issue plus a new Bradt guide book free with new subscriptions but because I arrived there late in the day on the last day of the show, they were giving 2 back copies - he didn't want to carry them back to the office. I couldn't choose so he gave me 3!

I will throw in another plug for Africa Geographic. Really an outstanding magazine. We had never heard of it until one of our hotel rooms in South Africa had a complimentary copy in the room. Now we are hooked.

From a general standpoint I also enjoy Travel Holiday magazine.

How happy am I!!! I've found Travel Africa at a bookstore!! It was waaaay in the back of the rack, I had to dig through all the mazagines pertaining to mobile homes and cruise ships, but it's beautiful and SO informative! I'll have to let the bookseller know how grateful I am so that they continue to stock it.

I'll have to search for Travel Holiday. I also grabbed an Arthur Frommers Budget Travel (hidden behind the Florida Tourist magazine and Midwest Living).

Hlphillips2: Wasn't it worth rummaging through all those cruise ship and mobile home magazines for Travel Africa!!! So glad you made the effort to find it!!! Hooray!!! Yippee!!! Now we call can "talk" about articles, etc. Except Kavey has an advantage ... its available in the UK sooner than it is here in the States ...
