Roy safari guide opinons
I'm working on booking a safari with Roy Safaris.
If you've been on safari with this company, I'm interested in hearing who your guide was and specific reasons you liked or didn't like your guide.
Thanks!

Yet another handy use for Lynda's East Africa Index.

If you search it for Roy's, you'll read quite a few reports.

I just saw the title of this post again this morning. When I first get up my eyes do not focus well and my brain fares even worse, so I didn't even remember responding from last night. With the title underlined, it looked like
"Boy safari guide opinions"
And I was thinking, "Hmmm, wonder what that poster has in mind."

We've been on several trips with Roys and used five different guides. I thought four were really good for what we were after (wildlife photography, mainly), and the fifth was OK but not quite as good as the others.
That fifth guy is now working for another company and I saw a trip report on Fodors from someone who had him as their guide at the new company and raved about him

we went with Roy Safaris, and had a wonderful time. our guide was so-so, as he was more quiet than not. i would have preferred a more talkative guide that spilled information about what we were seeing. instead, we had to ask what x was and what y was. once we asked he was always helpful.
