Please comment on itinerary
Hi - Would love feedback on my itinerary as I've recently revised it. My friend and I are traveling in May. Should we add/remove any days in any locations? Are we missing any key areas? Any specific sites we should check out? We love learning about local culture, art, history and like to eat. We also want 1-2 days on the beach.
Also, any advice on the best way to get from Fez to Chefchaouen?
Day 1 - Fly into Casablanca. Visit the Hassan Mosque II
Day 2 - Fly to Fez. Visit Meknes and Volubilis
Day 3 - Fez
Day 4 - Fez
Day 5 - Fez
Day 6 - Chefchaouen
Day 7 - Chefchaouen. Back to Fez
Day 8 - Train from Fez to Marrakesh
Day 9 - Marrakesh
Day 10 - Marrakesh
Day 11 - Essaouira
Day 12 - Essaouira. Back to Marrakesh at night
Day 13 - Travel to over the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass. Lunch in Ouarzarzate. Night in the Sahara
Day 14 - Sahara. Travel back to Ouarzarzate.
Day 15 - Fly from Ouarzarzate to Casablanca for flight back home.

This looks really good!
Two thoughts:
1. Prepare yourself for not needing that third day in Fez. You don't have to decide this before you get there, but you may want to get a driver that day and head into the mid-atlas. We really liked walking around the wooded area around the waterfall on the edge of Ifrane, and playing with the monkeys by the big cedar tree near Azrou (tourist trap, but I just get a kick out of wild monkeys). We just asked at our riad the day before and lined up a driver for the trip, sleeping back in Fez that night.
2. Consider sleeping that last night in Skoura instead of Ourzazate. We stayed at Ait Ben Moro, which was a very cool restored Kasbah. A walk through the palmerie right outside the hotel, looking at other kasbahs and ruins, was great.
Have fun!

I should add, there were only two flights from Ourzazate to Casa, one at 6 in the morning and one at 7 in the evening. We took the 6 am one, and Ait Ben Moro had no problem arranging a ride to the airport at 4:30 or so - even gave us breakfast.

Glad I'm not the only one
- I thought they were a riot. We fed them peanuts - actually, I did, my husband took pictures when he wasn't laughing hysterically at the fact that one would pull on my jeans if I didn't toss him another peanut fast enough.
