Plantation Lodge vs. Farmhouse
I'm curious if anyone has experience with both the Ngorongoro Farmhouse and the Ngorongoro Plantation lodge.
I'm curious which one is more expensive (or are they the same?).... and which one you would recommend?
I am considering staying there for 2 nights and am unsure as to which property to choose.
Your advice is appreciated!

Plantation is more expensive, but not by that much. Farmhouse is closer to the crater entrance. Plantation is smaller and more intimate. Farmhouse is not huge but it is bigger. I really like both a lot. If you want more privacy and small scale, Plantation makes sense. Farmhouse is neat and there are probably more chances for interacting with other travelers. Farmhouse probably has nicer views but both places have very pleasant grounds.

My Preference would be Plantation. The dining at Farmhouse is more on the line of what you would get with a large tour - buffet with lots of food. Farmhouse is used by Overseas Adventure Travel and thus caters to larger groups. The food at Plantation was excellent and beautifully severed in a more intimate setting. Both of the properties have beautiful grounds.
I do not know about the pricing but would imagine they are similar.

i only stayed at plantation and loved it!
beautiful grounds, nice restuarant, nice rooms and wonderful atmosphere!
the early morning drive to the crater didn't bother us at all as we are very much used to getting up very early especially on safari ;-)
