Passport Forwarding?

I sent my passport in for renewal in April/early May. We moved to new home in June. Our regular mail is still being forwarded from old house.
Does anyone know if the post office will forward a passport or is it marked " do not forward".
I recently sent in a change of address form to the Passport agency at their instruction. But I am afraid it will arrive too late to do any good.

Julien, you'll probably get more replies on the Europe board. Passports are always being discussed over there.
Hope things work out for you!

Don't know if it's marked "do not forward" but know you don't have to sign for it when it's delivered. You can check your status on the passport web-page, can't remember what it is but whatever agency gives them out do a search. Will tell you what is going on with it, or you can call them.

I have checked the passport website for my status.....which has been and remains " being processed".
I will just have to keep my fingers crossed. I had thought that sending it in April would give me plenty of time before my end of Oct trip. Now I am a bit nervous in case it gets sent back and i have to start from scratch.

If you have to start from scratch, expedite it and enclose a pre-paid fedex envelope.

2nd what hills27 said. Expedited passport service, adds $60(?) to cost. Send it US mail Priority Mail and a pre paid addressed return Priority Mail envelope inside. Mark "expedite" on outside of sending envelope.
My passport simply would expire last May and I renewed it in March this way and it only took two weeks then.
regards - tom
ps - I also had extra pages added for no additional cost

Unless you live in Chicago. If so, don't use the USPS. They lose everything. Pay the extra for Fedex.

My passport was forwarded and it arrived last week....the day before I needed it for a quick trip into Canada.
It took from late April until now for the renewal
