Passport Forwarding?
I sent my passport in for renewal in April/early May. We moved to new home in June. Our regular mail is still being forwarded from old house.
Does anyone know if the post office will forward a passport or is it marked " do not forward". I recently sent in a change of address form to the Passport agency at their instruction. But I am afraid it will arrive too late to do any good. |
Julien, you'll probably get more replies on the Europe board. Passports are always being discussed over there.
Hope things work out for you! Jane |
Don't know if it's marked "do not forward" but know you don't have to sign for it when it's delivered. You can check your status on the passport web-page, can't remember what it is but whatever agency gives them out do a search. Will tell you what is going on with it, or you can call them.

I have checked the passport website for my status.....which has been and remains " being processed".
I will just have to keep my fingers crossed. I had thought that sending it in April would give me plenty of time before my end of Oct trip. Now I am a bit nervous in case it gets sent back and i have to start from scratch. |
If you have to start from scratch, expedite it and enclose a pre-paid fedex envelope.

2nd what hills27 said. Expedited passport service, adds $60(?) to cost. Send it US mail Priority Mail and a pre paid addressed return Priority Mail envelope inside. Mark "expedite" on outside of sending envelope.
My passport simply would expire last May and I renewed it in March this way and it only took two weeks then. regards - tom ps - I also had extra pages added for no additional cost |
Unless you live in Chicago. If so, don't use the USPS. They lose everything. Pay the extra for Fedex.

My passport was forwarded and it arrived last week....the day before I needed it for a quick trip into Canada.
It took from late April until now for the renewal |
