After spending a bundle to watch the Ashes debacle, I wasn't about to shell out for one of the lamest tournaments around, so I've been limited to reading about it, aprt from catching a couple of hours at the Virgin Clubhouse in London.
I've just bought the six nations rugby, so now its rugby occupying my time.

only time will tell.....i dont see them winning 3 WC's in a row....this may create some doubts in their minds...

Still, remember VVS and Dravid turned things around against them? shades of that right now.......

Congrats to England and India this weekend Napamatt and Hari. Did you see what we did to Pakistan? I think we have a great opportunity at the WC. With all the teams peaking and in my mind no definite favourites, this will hopefully be one to remember! We are blessed in SA with all the sporting channels on sattelite, and I was able to watch all the Super 14 and 6 nations rugby on Saturday, and channel hop between the 3 major one day international cricket matches on Sunday! Nice to chat about sport a bit on this forum, great idea Hari!
Cheers Jaco

Sat through the England v Italy game. It looks like England have gone back years, no inventiveness, ball rarely psuhed wide, very disappointing. Oh for Guscott or Greenwood!

Napamatt, I hear what you are saying. The positive side for both England and South Africa is that we are currently not favourites for the WC. I would imagine that there would be huge presure on New Zealand ( the best team between world cups ) and France. Ireland looks good, but if our teams are going to be seen as the dark horses, I think we could cause a couple of upsets.

Hari, Hari. Is this not the same batting line up we recently destroyed in SA. If I can recall correctly Mr Pollock and Mr Ntini took wickets at will. With England taking the final in the commonwealth bank series, we could topple the Aussies off the ICC rankings if we beat Pakistan on wednesday. I will keep you up to date, our team is being announced on thursday. Again Hari, great idea to start this post. it's positive, a lot of fun and all in good humour.
Cheers Jaco

Hallo Hari and Napamatt,
Hari, sounds like your bowlers are doing well this morning against Sri Lanka. Last score I heard was 25 for 3 wickets. Probably Sreesanth doing the damage? Will be checking up on the game stats regularly, we have sattelite television at the lodge and office, going to be difficult working today. SA v Pakistan starts 1430 this afternoon local time. LOVELY DAY AT THE OFFICE!

Napamatt, Am I correct that you love birding? If you are interested, I spoke to a friend of mine this week end. His name is Michael Borcherds and he is fanatical about photography. If you like check out his portfolio on www.outdoorphoto.co.za Pictures of Bearded Vultures, Veraux's Eagle, Jackal Buzzard and Black Kite's were taken in a hide at 3000 meters above sea level in Giant's castle in the Drakensburg Region. Another great spot for raptors and Vultures is in the Magaliesburg 40 minutes drive from JHB, where you hike up early in the morning on this farm and you can spend the whole day on the edge of a cliff, with the themals bringing the birds up the edge and level to you. There are various spots like this, for various bird species and if you are coming this way again, I will post the booking details for you on the forum. These spots are not tourist attractions, and are mostly used by local photographers and birders. I do not know costs involved, but I am sure if you want the details, you could find out from them and book it yourself. Hope this helps, if I hear about more out of the way, special birding spots, I will let you know.
Cheers
Jaco

Really appreciate that and may take you up on it. Most of our trips focus on MM where birds are an addition to the main event, However I am excited next April to have some time in CT with my parents, it wont be hard core birding, but I should get some interesting spots.

Hello,

i havent been following, Jaco....busy day at work. Will check now.

Our World cup hopes depends on the form of Sehwag and Pathan. They both need a strong kick to get their act together!!!

Jaco- i will root for SA (but only against Pak)

Hari,
Current score is 111 for 4 after 27 overs, Dravid and Dhoni is in. We are in for a tight match. Ganguly has top scored so far with 47.

In SA we have huge respect for Dravid, Khan and Sehwag, so point taken on our captain v Zaheer.

I think though that most of the opening Indian batsmen wake out of their nightmares with the indelible red hair of Shaun Pollock taking wickets!!!

Looking forward to keeping you updated and having fun.

your friend

Jaco

So India eventually manage to beat Sri Lanka, but now SA are destroying Pakistan. Pollock 5-22 in 10. Mohammad Yousuf is not the player he was in 2006 - thank goodness.
