Message for Kristina (UltmteAfricanSafaris)

Hi Kristina,
I just looked through your pics of Elsa's Kopje and am looking forward even more to staying there in December now (if that's possible). Do you have a favorite cottage?

Is this from Ura cottage? http://67.171.25.95/2006/Kenya/Elsas2/jvn045.htm

Do any of the other cottages have a bathtub on the deck?

What camp is this in your animal orphanage album? http://67.171.25.95/2006/Kenya/Orphanage.htm

Thanks!

For those who haven't seen Kristina's pics, all of her albums are here http://www.ultimateafricansafaris.co...ica/Africa.htm

Kristina, those pictures are incredible! Wow! (and so far I have just looked at the orphanage one)

I too am curious what camp that is in the Orphanage album as I see Kennedy in one of the pictures. Is it where you stayed?

Were you in the pens with Sokoku and Pascal? (the sokoke forest cat and the lion) The pictures of them are so close! Incredible!

Patty-
I have the answer to your questions below from Kristina (via email) - she tried to post and she has been DISALLOWED! For some reason one of the monitors on Sat morning must have taken exception to what she posted in response to a 'Thomson's' question. The whole thread disappeared, and she hasn't been able to post since! For the life of her she can't figure out what she said wrong! You know, sometimes those monitors are asleep at the switch, they don't pick up on a lot of the stuff they should, and then suddenly - bam! They find fault with the strangest things! (Kristina really can't figure out what it is she said that was so bad - she didn't think she'd broken any rules!)

Here are her responses though to your questions -

<b>Units number 1 and 2 have bathtubs on the decks. #1 is the best, I think, it’s the Honeymoon room, but you can’t go wrong with #2 or any unit at Elsa’s. You must request it as it’s always occupied. Once in a while a leopard visits that unit (usually when nobody is home) as it’s the most remote on top of the rock across the swinging bridge from the restaurant. #2 is also up there. Then there is the Private House! Oh my! </b>

<b>I really need to split this out. This is a prototype of the new mobile tent that A&amp;K just introduced for their Deluxe Hemmingway Mobile Safaris. Kennedy took us there as I had made an appointment to see it at the Kent family estate home in the Karen area of Nairobi. Kennedy was thrilled to get to see that estate and the tent. Heck, someone had to take him there … right! </b>

Is there something we can do for Kristina to get her back in?

I don't know, bat - we are really mystified as to what happened! Did anyone see that post, and can anyone shed some light on this little mystery? She is a travel agent, and she does have her email address showing along with her name, but so do many others, so we don't think it's that. I believe she said she posted that Thomson's was expensive - but then, hey, how many times have some of the other agents on this board pointed out to me that Micato was an expensive way to go? Honesty should always be our best policy for the good of everyone, right?

And, as I have never seen a posting by a moderator, I don't know who we could contact!

Kristina has been on an incredible amount of safaris, and although she doesn't get much time to post, as she is buried in her office most of the time, she has a wealth of information on many of the camps, etc. She is certainly another Sandi - very helpful, very knowledgeable, very valuable to us novices - and considering she has been reading this forum (lurking) for a very long time now, and has only posted 2 or 3 times, that should tell the forum-masters-that-be that she certainly isn't using the board to flog her wares!

(wow, where did this come from at 8 in the morning from this usually mild mannered person I wonder??? - I better be careful as where would I be if I was disallowed to post??? How could I finish my trip report then???)

If your reading this Fodor's, I do recall that perfectly harmless thread, in my humble opinion. What's up with that? You working for Thomson? I've seen some pretty questionable things that are allowed - please educate us on why that thread got the boot. Perhaps it was an innocent mistake.

In Fodors defence Kristina is an agent booking Thomsons safaris - maybe in the moderator's opinion she advertised Thomsons a bit too much!

It may help if she removes her company email and just becomes &quot;Kristina&quot; posting advice on this board?

Are saying she works and/or books trips for them?

I was thinking the same thing, Eben. Perhaps Kristina can re-register as &quot;Kristina&quot; and use a personal email or no email.
