Mbalageti Camp Opinions
Well, I've booked three nights here the first of June and recently read that someone said it wasn't worth the drive. I'd simply like to get more feedback on anyone's experience because now I'm second guessing my choice and leave in a month. Ugh. Thanks!

We overnighted at Mbalageti our last night in Tanzania last July and loved every minute. We stayed in a chalet with a sunken tub on the outside deck and soaked up the stars and the sounds of the wildebeest migration snuffling down below. Sundowners were on the patio of the pool with the infinity view out over the plains and the Grumeti River, including warm nibblies. Dinner was from a menu, a nice change from the buffets of so many other camps. One of my thoughts was that it would be a nice place for a honeymoon. Personally, I'm quite envious!!! My trip report is "Safari Mzuri" if you want to read more. Deb

Mbalageti is lovely and worth the visit. And, is the place to be in June. Granted, the herds may not have arrived (in full) here, but on a private safari your guide will get you to where the herds can be found.
We also visited early June (staying at Kirawira, but visited Mbalageti), and the herds (at least the wildies) were still in Seronera... we did the 2/hr drive with other game viewing along the way... finding the wildies. The zebra, however, were still on the southern plains and didn't meet up with the wildies till about a week later to traverse thru the western corridor, the Grumeti River, heading north into the Mara.
But, from year-to-year, can't say whether the herds will arrive early or somewhat later. However, Mbalageti has lovely chalet tents, great views of the open plains from their pool deck. You may even want to arrange with your guide a day-trip thru the western gate to Lake Victoria.
You're fortunate to have gotten space in this area and I'm sure you'll be glad with your decision.

Deb, I'll check out your trip report! Sandi, I never thought about a day trip to Lake Victoia. Great idea since we have three days. Both of you have made me feel better, thanks so much. I guess no matter where we are, it's going to be a fantastic and new experience since it's the first trip to Africa. Appreciate it!

I have only been to Mbalageti Serengeti virtually (which does seem quite lovely) but I can vouch for the excellent customer service from afar from both of the owners!
I do not know them Den I am…no affiliation, nada, blah, blah…
They were extremely helpful and bent over backwards last fall through e-mails and phone calls from the bush in helping me set-up and time a surprise massage for one of my guides that I knew was scheduled at their facility. It was a very enjoyable experience to work with them and needless to say they are very guide friendly and they for sure are on my list for a stay on my next visit.
Sandi, this is the first time I have heard or read of the concept/option of visiting Lake Victoria as a day trip! Great information!
