Massada question

Do any of you know whether the Massada cable car runs on Fridays and Saturdays?

I am actually over here i Israel right now and we visited Masada this afternoon. And the cable car was operating and its Saturday. It's a national park so if you want to double check for your specific date check for their website. Its a beautiful site. Have fun! We're so happy we finally came to Israel!

Thank you for confirming the Saturday operation.

The Massada Web site says the "cable train" operates only "on Sunday-Thursday & Saturday". Is "cable train" the same as "cable car"? If so, it means the cable car is closed Fridays. But I read on other Web sites about various tours taking the cable car on Fridays, which would mean it does run then.

Maybe Massada's Web site is just out of date. It seems strange the cable car would be open all day on Saturday (Sabbath) but closed all day on Friday, before Sabbath has even started.

Does anyone know if the Massada cable car runs at all on Fridays?

SupraChica, could you please let me know how we can get to MAssada/Dead Sea if we don't have a car? Is there any Egged bus goes there? How to get from Massada to Dead Sea/ and Kibuts? Is a tour our only option?
Thanks,
MAriya

Egged Bus #444 goes from Jerusalem to Eilat, and stops at Masada. They also run a daily tour from Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, to Masada and the Dead Sea for about US $80.

ALF, thanks a lot for info. I also start thinking about renting a car from Kiriat Gat and go to MAssada to stay there 1 night.
Thanks,
MAriya
