You have probably made your plans by now, but here is some additional input. Both of our safari experiences have been quick trips out of Johannesburg and we never had time to get to Kruger. We had a great guide in Madikwe and were very pleased with the mammals and birds which we saw there, including many lions, elephants, black rhinos, white rhinos, a leopard, sable antelope, black wildebeest, red hartebeest, giraffes, warthogs and more.
Another year we went to Pilanesberg, and I enjoyed that but preferred the Madikwe experience. We have friends who spend weeks at a time in Kruger and can't get enough of it, and I would like to go there sometime.
We have also been to Capetown and appreciated the great beauty of the area. I like the proposal to see two very different parts of the country by combining Madikwe and a portion of the Cape Town area.
Hope you enjoy wherever you go!
