Londolozi changing management

I understand that CC Africa will cease managing Londolozi some time early in 2007. Does anyone know who will be taking over and what changes, if any, will be made.

I think the actual owners of Londolozi are going to take over....so, it should be in good hands.

I heard it was going to become more expensive although this was from CCAfrica rangers. However, one thing is sure. The 'no single supplement' will disappear making it too expensive for single travellers like myself...which is why I'm going to Londolozi two weeks!

Hello,

Londoz will be returning to its roots as an owner-managed lodge, with Bronwyn Varty taking over management of Tree Camp and Boyd Varty joining the ranger team.

There are some refurbishments in the works - Tree Camp will undergo a comprehensive refurb, and Pioneer Camp will become an all-suite camp (the chalets will be converted to suites similar to the existing suites). Founders will become an all-chalet camp. The Founders suite and rooms 1 and 2 at Bateleur Camp (now Varty Camp) will become the new Private Granite Suites and will also be refurbished.

Some camps may also become smaller, though how much smaller isn't clear as yet.

The no single supplement policy will still apply to stays of four nights or longer.

Cheers,
Julian

The staff at Phinda were not too pleased at the transfer. I understand from ccafrica staff that most of the Londo staff will be staying on. Certainly Renias and Elmon and their families will be staying on. Renias was our guide at Londo in August and we had a wonderful time.

Julian,

What is the least expensive camp within Londolozi? and how do the prices compare with Simbambilli or MM?

Tree, Pioneer, Granite Suites and Varty suites will sell for R6800.00 per person sharing while a Varty Chalet will sell for R3950.00 and Founders Chalet will sell for R5500.00.
This will be throughout the year as there no longer will be Low and High seasons.

Thanks Mark,

I assume the Varty chalet be fully booked up for years in advance......

That price sounds similar to something like Dulini...

Thanks

Yes, Varty Chalets are selling out quickly for next year. I tried to get space in June and it was fully booked for the dates I needed.

Good to hear that the single supplement will still apply on stops of 4 nights or more.

I returned this week from five nights at Londolozi. Absolutely fantastic - leopards on all ten game drives!

Most of the camp staff and rangers will be staying on - the Varty's are well known and liked amongst them. Accroding to the camp mamnger I spoke to he doesn't think the Varty's will change too much at least in the short term.
