I got a note back from Holiday Inn in response to my email. I had asked if they could do a better rate for me, and mentioned that a friend had advised me that they'd gotten a great rate for an upcoming December visit.

She's asked if I could give my friend's name so she could check the rate and see if she could match it.

Then I told her about my job etc and I asked if she could tell me any groups I might fall into to get a discount, lets see where it goes.

Now to find affordable car hire - gonna check out the recommendations in that thread I started.

LISA I received latest response from HI reservations. Not able to provide discount of any sort.

Bummer. I do remember there was a Best Western we looked at that was quite reasonable too, although guesthouses will probably be the least expensive option.
