Kuwait - Is it safe to drink the water?

Gold has always been a good buy in the Middle East, and yes, you can find some very interesting designs that you'll not find elsewhere. Besides, it's 18k, 21k and 22k, not that 14k, 10k and 9k crap they sell in the US.
21k and 22k may be a bit too brassy for those used to 14k, but 18k is a good compromise and comes in yellow, white and rose.
BTW - There are several gold shops in the Kuwait Airport, so it's not too late if he's still in the country!

He said the exchange rate is terrible. Too late to shop in Kuwait so would look at the airport but I don't him not to bother - I don't trust his taste!
Perhaps I'll write him a trip report when he returns

Well, he refuses to write a trip report but from the pictures he took, looks like he was staying in a very nice place - Marina Hotel. He said the food was great and was surprised by all the 'fancy' juices served.
His friends told him to walk to the end of the mall (?) where the gold booths were but he couldn't find them and said they must have been closed(ah-huh! right. He said there were armed guards checking all the cars driving up to the hotel.
He was interested to see his Kuwaitie business associates dressed in traditional garb as he had only seen them in other countries dressed in business suits.

Ronda -
Glad to hear he had a good trip, even though he failed to pick up a kilo of gold for his spouse. The mall wouldn't have been the place to buy it anyway. The gold souks
are where the serious gold shoppers go, and they're a bit more difficult to find (downtown in a very congested area - a driving and parking nightmare).
Is the Marina Hotel near the Marina Mall? Nice mall that one. I used to get fabulous peach smoothies at a place there called Waterlemon.
Fancy juice drinks are pretty common in the Middle East - no alcohol allowed in some gulf countries, so I guess there's a big demand for a variety of fancy juice drinks instead. Besides, it's so bloody hot, cold drinks are always welcome.
I used to love buying an ice cold bottle of Appletise in Saudi after a hot day of shopping and in Kuwait I became quite fond of lime and mint drinks. Kind of miss those come to think of it...
