water safety?

I am posting on behalf of a friend who is leaving for Costa Rica on Wednesday. Is the water safe to drink/brush teeth with? Also, what about eating fresh fruit and vegetables?
Thanks for your help!!

We drank the tap water and ate fresh produce with no problems. Happy Travels!

Every person and their systems are different of course. Personally I drink the tap water, ice cubes, fruit etc and never have had any problems.

I have had no problems with ice, fruits, veggies etc. I brush my teeth with tap water. I do drink bottled water.

Never a problem--we drink tap water, also, when visiting in the homes of friends. Bottled water is served in most restaurants, however.
