Kilimanjaro Airport Transfers

For an independent traveler, is there any way to get from KIA (JRO) to Arusha and back to the airport aside from renting a vehicle or arranging an expensive ride with a safari company? This would be during daytime hours. ZZ

I think a hotel like the Impala offers shared van airport transfers for $10 US, at least for the KLM nightly flight. You can probably contact them via email for details.

As Bill mentions, I'd check with the hotel at which you'd be staying whether they offer a shuttle service.

Unlike when the Intl flights arrive, there are few vehicles at the airport waiting for passengers. Even to be fortunate enough to hop a ride with other passengers who have arranged for a transfer. And, I don't recall seeing car rental agencies at the airport.

From where are you arriving?
What hour?
Going to where in Arusha?
What amount are you considering to pay for the transfer?

I am arriving from Entebbe on Precision Air on Saturday, October 13, about 3 p.m. and flying on to Dar es Salaam on October 19 about 8 a.m. I am staying with friends in Arusha. They are busy medical people whom I hate to have to ask to drive to/from the airport. As for what I am willing to pay, I guess I'll have to pay whatever is necessary. ZZ

I have just read in the Rough Guide to Tanzania that Air Tanzania and Precision Air provide shuttle service to Arusha after their flights. Can anyone confirm this? The Precision Air Web site gives no information about ground transportation. ZZ
