January safari weather
We are going on northern safari in January, and I am trying to figure out what the weather will be like. I know it is very hot in Dar, where we will be for a few days, but what about the crater? Don't want to pack for cool weather if we don't need to!

As the chart provided from Lynn, January is "summer" so it's hot, but mostly dry on the mainland. The mornings/nights will be cooler than daytime temps - sometimes by 20-30/degrees. However, on the crater rim at 7,000' it will may even be cold mornings/nights. Once down on the crater floor, it should be warmer. Good idea to have a jacket, heavy sweater, sweatshirt.
Rain is unlikely, but in '07 it was wet, wet, wet (hopefully no repeat for '08); have an inexpensive slicker.
