I stayed at Ciragan, which is nice, but had lunch at the Four Seasons, which has much better location for sightseeing. I usually object to Four Seasons and Ritz-Carltons since they had been very "cookie cutter," but the Four Seasons Istanbul is built within a former prison and has local character (unlike, say, the Four Seasons Singapore, where I stayed on business, and it could be anywhere in the world).

We were in Istanbul a little over 2 years ago. I found a hotel from National Geographic Traveler. It is called Dersaadet Hotel. They were wonderful.Their web site is [email protected]
We had a room with a view of the Marmar Sea-If I went back I would choode a suite. It was in a wonderful location-walking distance to everything we needed to see. The rooftop balcony where we had breakfast had a view of the Blue Mosque. Istanbul is a magical city. Chris
