Is Kenya stabilizing?
Has anyone been to Kenya in the last 3 mos or so.
We wanted to take our kids there this summer but not sure if the country is stabil or not.
I was there 3 years ago and want to share it with our teenagers.

The post-election violence has passed thank goodness. Even at its height, tourists were not the target and there were not widespread problems in areas visited by tourists. The tragedy played out amongst the local people.
Kenya will benefit by returning visitors so a trip this summer will be a win-win-win. A win for Kenya, a win for your kids, and a win because normally you'd be hard pressed to get lodging this late if by summer you mean the North American summer of June-Aug.
What do you have in mind?

Here are numerous links from those returning recently as well as discussions on situation. There are double this number of links on the topic, if you put Kenya in the search box.

I noticed that Frommer's is again advocating travel to Kenya. Their weekly travel article was more conservative than some sources and recommended against any Kenya travel during the height of the election violence.

My sister and I (both in our early 20s) were there at the height of the problems in February. there werent a ton of tourists then, but we did see some with young kids. We had no issues then, so im sure you will have no issues now. Go and have fun!

Hi -
I live in Kenya and would highly recommend you come with your kids. As others have mentioned, even at the height of the problems, no tourists were harmed at all. Plus, the problems were much more localized than the press would have us believe - there were some bad trouble spots but the whole country was by no means "on fire." Where we live, it was completely quiet throughout - without receiving the news via the internet, we wouldn't even have known there was a problem!
You will have a fantastic time - and I'm sure your kids will love it too.
