Is Jerash worth seeing

Hello everyone,

Just wondering if Jerash is a must see site or a can miss site? I seen tonnes of roman ruins in other countries and will be going to Petra, Wadi Rum, and Aqaba for scuba diving, during my stay in Jordan.

Should I make time to see it or can I pretend it doesn't exist? Thanks for any comments!

It depends if you want to see more Roman ruins. They are interesting, but they are more of what youv'e seen in other countries. As for me, I am glad I went, even though I had seen many ruins in other countries. Was it the highlight of my trip to Jordan. No. Nothing in Jordan compares to Petra. But Jerash is an interesting historical site.

Some of the most amazing Roman ruins I've seen were in Turkey, but also in France and even Egypt. Still very glad we stopped at Jerash (maybe a 30/min drive north of Amman) which besides Petra that is so completely different, was well worth the visit.

I have seen Roman ruins all over the world and go to Rome for work several times a month.Having said that, yes I would make time (1/2 day) for a visit to Jerash. It is really huge and very interesting. The scenic drive along the rolling olive tree hills and the greenery is a nice change from the desert landscapes.Put on a good pair of walking shoes as it is bigger than you think but well worth it!

Jerash was more interesting to us (in November '09) than Ephesus was in 2004. It's under-rated because Jordan is just not much known as a tourist area, which is also its charm.

I'll eventually have photos up of our 2 hours there.
