Ideas for future trip

We do two major trips a year - one around Christmas and one in the summer. Last December we visited Amboseli and the Northern Circuit of Tanzania. In six weeks we're going to PNV in Rwanda and then to the Masai Mara. In July of 2007 we're going to Alaska and in July of 2008 we're planning a trip to Botswana.

So that leaves an opening in December 2007 - any suggestions? We (husband and I) usually have about 10 days, want to go somewhere we haven't been before, and our primary interest is photography.

Thanks!

Toshi, how about Ethiopia? It is supposed to be an excellent place for photography, which is one of the main reasons my wife and I are going there at the end of this year.
Also, when will you be in PNV? We will be there January 3-4, 2007.

Does that place have to be in Africa (I take that it does, since you posted on the Africa forum).

If Africa, I would recommend a non-safari destination, like Tunisia, Egypt or Morocco (I have been to all three, although I haven't been to Morocco in a long time), all of which have very photogenic sites. I visited Tunisia in December 2006, and there is a lot to see, certainly enough to keep you very busy for 10 days.

I will also be in Alaska in July 2007 -- my basic itinerary is Fairbanks, Denali, Anchorage, Brooks Lodge and Kenai Fjords NP.

Thanks for the ideas. I hadn't thought of ANY of those places. I'll have to do some research.

Is it a bad time of the year to visit Zambia/Zimbabwe?

Chris - we'll be in PNV Dec 25/26.
Michael - we'll be in Brooks July 5-7

I'll be in Brooks on July 3 (day trip flying in from Anchorage). I only booked this last month, and there are no available rooms at Brooks Lodge in July. When did you make your reservations?

December is the rainy season in Zambia/Zim with a lot of the lodges closed, but some open year round. Last Christmas in South Luangwa it rained so hard that the annual "Christmas Carols on the Bridge" was cancelled and the river was over the banks. I'd pick somewhere other than Zam/Zim for that time.

December is fantastic in India....

If you are looking at Africa only, then, South Africa? Kenya? Botswana or Zambia in the green season?

Michael - we made our Brooks reservations in March of 2006. Even at that time they had limited availability.

So South Africa would be ok in Dec?
