I haven't heard anything on 'investigation' but I do know from a realiable source that Honey's three remaining cubs are doing well!
We may never know what exactly happened, which is quite unfortunate. Let's hope that nothing like this happens again especially if someone was at fault, even by accident.

Well it's been over two months now since Honey died and we've not heard any more rumblings from the Conservancy as to what really happened.
I guess we'll never get that press release (as promised) or any more details as to how she really died.
Poor P.R. from those involved.

Hey gang-
It's indeed a very small world.
During my very recent stay in the Mara, I met a reporter who was there doing a story on Honey and her death. A year after the incident which was to be a follow-up on what really happened.
He was leaving to return to the UK the next day, when the story was going to press, on Feb. 2nd.

And a footnote: I did see Honey's cubs while in the Mara. They seem to be doing fine. While watching them from afar, two out of the three separately tried to chase down different gazelles, but missed by just a foot or two. Good news is that they are hunting and seem very healthy.

Yes, it's a very very sad situation - a year down the road and they are still trying to "cover" up the story and the wrongful death of Honey the cheetah.

This thing still makes my blood boil. BBC says they are going to inform fans on their website when the details become clear -- its been a year!! That is so lame, they are supposedly so involved in the area yet can't provide details after a year.
Mara Conservancy Director claims if they would have been consulted they would have advised not to sedate the mother, yet, the witness for the article is a Mara Conservancy Assistant Warden who was on site for the entire thing. Sounds like being in the loop to me. Of course he makes no issue with interfering with nature in the first place, just no need to sedate the mother while treating the cub.
Glad to hear the cubs are doing well, too bad a prolific mother is gone due to poor human decisions and even worse execution of them -- and yes I mean that term literally.

The one thing annyoing about Big Cat Diary is, everytime there is something interesting they keep going back to show the presenters and their dramatic expressions, "Oh My God - we can't believe how lucky we are today " etc etc.,

I agree with you Hari. I do believe I recall an episode when they were showing a lion roaring (an awesome sight and sound, as many of us know), and they cut to a close up of presenter telling us how awesome it was! I could see the lion in the bg, but they really spoiled that scene.
That's one of the reasons why I rarely watch BCD and other wildlife documentaries...most of them are showbiz vehicles for personalities crying out to the audience, "look, we are there, aren't we important!"

I just got an email from Joseph Kimojino, the head of tourism and anti-animal harassment for the Mara Conservancy. Stating the following:
Hallo Kevin! yes they are Honey`s cubs.As you saw in the pictures,they very grown and moves alot covering large areas. For now they are at the greater Mara side and will come back again.I,m monitoring closely their movements on a daily basis by radio.
