Help--Galilee
Planning our 1st trip to Israel next May & aside from Jerusalem & Tel Aviv, would like to stay in the Galilee region. How do we get from either Jerusalem (preferably) or Tel Aviv to the area & is one town preferable to another in terms of availability of day tours.

In May 2006 we rented a car in Jerusalem (from near the King David Hotel) and drove to Nazareth. We had two nights there at Fauzi Azar Inn. The first day we drove ourselves through some of the Galilee Christian sites and also to one of the national parks which is a key archeologigal site. The second day we drove to Tel Aviv stopping at Caesaria on the way. All was great except maybe the town of Tiberias. Don't be afraid to rent a car and drive. Israel has excellent roads. If you didn't want to rent a car, I understand there is also an excellent bus system in Israel. You might also go to Fauzi Azar Inn website www.fauziazarinn.com. It is a good website and some day tours are offered through them. The proprietor is also very interested in promoting Nazareth area and may have some other ideas as well for you. Also, I found another website that was very helpful in thinking of where to go www.gemsinisrael.com. I believe they also offer day trips and hotel reservation and car rental.

Stay at the Rosary Sisters in Nazareth : [email protected]
and travel by car to all the spots around the Sea of Galilee. Rather stay in Jaffa than Tel Aviv.
Enjoy your trip!
