Gorillas Revisited to air on Animal Planet

FYI-
Calling all gorilla and "Gorillas in the Mist" lovers.

For the first time since she made the movie “Gorillas in the Mist,” Sigourney Weaver has returned to Rwanda to visit the mountain gorillas. She will be visiting the research gorilla groups, not the tourist group gorillas

On this visit, Weaver, who also serves as honorary chairperson of DFGFI, filmed “Gorillas Revisited,” which is scheduled to air on Animal Planet June 11 at 8 p.m. EST and again on June 18 at 3 p.m. EST.

Here is a link to a nice lengthy preview of the special.

It was great to see her back with the Gorillas again. It must be satisfying to know that this was much more than a film role in portraying Diane Fossey. It has now been a lifelone commitment.

Can't wait to watch

Dave,
I was kind of surprised to hear Sigourney sp. say in a recent interview that the reason that she hadn't been back til now was due to the unrest in Rwanda.

This was a great special. I appreciated them referrign to the local people constantly and how their survival is tied to gorilla's survival.

Glad theat at least some of the fees from tourism go to local people.

I was also psyched when they were at the tourist center and I sqw 2 of the guides that took us out when we were there in October.

Only caught about the last 5 minutes but I have to say I got a little choked up when Sigourney did. I hope they re-run it.

I did manage to see part of the special that came on after, about lowland gorillas in Cameroon. That was quite interesting, as I've heard very little about conservation efforts there.

they replayed it a few hours later. 11PM I think.

I am sure they are running it again this week. Definitely check!
