Gorilla trekking in Rwanda: Trip report
This was the last segment of our month-long trip to Africa. We had been quite careful with the water, except for a few ice cubes here and there, but as you'll see, my husband woke up the morning of our first gorilla trek and threw up 3 times in front of our lovely cabin at Virunga Lodge! But we made it to both treks, visiting the Sabyinyo and Bwenge Groups. It was magical.
The video is 4 1/2 minutes long.

If you'd like to see the other parts of our trip, click on my name at the upper right hand corner and they'll appear:
Part I is the Garden Route and Cape Town, wherein we got evacuated from Tsitsikamma National Park during the big end of August storm; then robbed in Cape Town;
Part II is Mala Mala, wherein we saw the "Big Seven;"
Part III is the Selinda Walking Trail (with lots of lions);
and Part IV is the Great Wilderness Journey in Botswana.
Each is 3-4 minutes long.
Again, thanks so much to this Board for all the planning help!

That person going over the wall was actually not me, but someone who had so much trouble with the climb and the altitude that Francois had to hold her hand the whole way! And her companion, the other woman in the picture, had to drop out of the second trek they had signed up (and paid)for the next day because her back was in spasms after two cold nights on an uncomfortable mattress at the Gorilla's nest.
I am the person in some of the other trip report slide shows who is always holding a gin and tonic!
