Garden Route in August ?
I am planning a family vacation with 2 kids (10, 7). We are limited to July-August. What I would love to do is to combine 2 weeks in Namibia (I understand that August is fine) with 2 weeks around Cape Town and the Garden Route. I understand this is off-season, but is it out of question ? Do we stand a chance for some sunshine and fine days or all winter ? Thanks for your thoughts.

The weather tends to improve as you move up the Garden Route with a 92 % chance of a warm day in Port Elizabeth at this time of year.
Day time temperatures should be in the mid 20’s with temeperatures droping to 10-15 at night.
Cape Town is normally cooler.
You should visit the Game Reserves in the Eastern Cape at this time of year they have some great out of season specials Lalibella has a great children’s program.
It is also a good idea at this time of year to head into the Karoo where it will be warmer and as semi desert little chance of rain.
For an amazing travel bargain try Blanco Guest Farm at Tarkastad a favourite with South African families, due to the service and excellent prices.

I agree with visiting the Karoo. Amazing scenery! Together with Tsitsikamma this was one of the highlights of our trip to the Western Cape.
As for temps, here's a chart for the month of August:
