Fly to JNB

I got this 2 for 1 offer today. Thought you might be interested. Don't know if it will work for business.

yip. i have the fine print at the office. it requires G class seats to be available which are more rare than frequent flier seats. this special does not apply to business class.

JFK or IAD to JNB, $1,779 two people, for mid Sep all way to Apr 2011. Wonder if that includes taxes? They can be so deceptive with prices, and seats as craig says. Saw one SAA similar deal but did not include taxes. And taxes about doubled the fare!!!!

regards - tom

There were lots of seats available yesterday when I tried it and with taxes included, the price was $1979 for two. I think it's a good deal - and I would not have posted it without looking into it. If you click on "book now" a calendar comes up with available seats.

Hopefully with more and more demand for flights to South Africa, SAA will lower their fares permanently to make it more affordable to travel to SA. If airfares were cut in half, we would see a lot more tourists coming to South Africa.
Thanks for letting us know about this special.

If it becomes a racetrack the fare are more probably getting UP!
Promoting cheaply very well booked routes is a NO GO for airlines. No need to do that at all.

Traffic and huge request never lead to rate DEcrease. Supply and Demand - particularly to Africa

Regarding the 2 for 1 offer:

To me that sounds like a huge BARGAIN - I certainly would jump on it!
Even from Europe you won't get it that cheaply!

If one cannot afford that fare - he/she never will.

I'd jump on it...I hope they extend the offer through the end of 2011..we're planning to go in August. Right now I can only see flight prices up through end of June and they are at least $1500 pp.

cary999 - below are the exact details of the offer. you are correct - the taxes and fuel surcharges are NOT included on either ticket. i had to replace the ticket cost with XXXX since there is a confidentiality agreement between my company and SAA.

Fare – First Passenger: $W,XYZ plus applicable taxes, fees and fuel surcharges

Fare – Companion: $0 plus applicable taxes, fees and fuel surcharges. The fare paying passenger and companion must travel together on all flight sectors.

Booking / Ticketing Period: July 15 – September 8, 2010

Travel Period: September 13, 2010 through March 31, 2011. Travel not permitted between December 10, 2010 and January 15, 2011 on this fare.

Markets: JFK / IAD and JNB Only. Domestic U.S. sectors or domestic / regional sectors within Southern Africa must be issued on a separate ticket.

Booking Class: Economy Class – “G”

Craig - I posted the site, including the fine print. If someone can use it to save almost $400 pp, then I hope they do. The airlines sometimes run specials for us to take advantage of if we can. Every airline seat price has fine print, we just don't read it and don't care - we just want to save money when we can. If you try to book a seat through the site, it shows what is available at that price. Pretty self explanatory. Under $2000 for two to S Africa on a nonstop or direct flight is a good deal.

christabir.

sounds good. did you actually get two seats for under 2k - did you book? did you purchas a regular ticket or was it 2-for-1?

sometimes it seems airline seats are a commodity to be bought at the lowest price so i am glad you got a deal!
