This sounds like a pretty good deal---I found flights for mid-July at the advertised price of $475 each---comes out to a total of $1,045.

How much are business fares NYC-AMS typically?

I haven't priced that route, but we paid $1,800 for NYC-PAR last summer.

$1,045.92 round trip. These are business class seats with recline to 140°, 52-inch seat pitch and 12 inches leg room, not flat-bed sleeper seats. No lounge access.

With 52" pitch it's considerably more than 12" of leg room. This is the successor to the old L'Avion group.

$1,045.92 round trip includes taxes and fees.

"12 inches of leg room for optimal comfort" is what BA say on their website: https://www.flyopenskies.com/os/flight_prem You can look at the photo for an idea - looks like a seat such as you'd find in first class on older domestic airlines. Or possibly economy plus on BA, with a little more leg room.

For the true Business Class experience you'll need to spring for what they're calling the Biz Bed: https://www.flyopenskies.com/os/flight_biz

That looks like the seats that Mme. and I had on L'Avion, which I think are the Openskies seats: http://tinyurl.com/m8zvxd (composition is not this FA's forte.)

I don't know where the 12" is measured, but I had room to spare when I stretched the footrest out to its full extent and reclined the seat to maximum.
