For the Tarifa>Tangier ferry, should we book tickets in advance or buy as walk-ons? I like flexibility so we can choose whether to spend more time the day of departure in Gibraltar or Tangier, but I don't want to miss out on a ferry either..

I've taken that ferry both ways, to Tarifa & return to Tangier, and bought my tickets just before boarding. I suppose there can be variables such as season, day of the week, holidays, etc. You might check if tickets bought are specific to 1 day & time or good on any. But unless there's someone here who has encountered a full one, the answer may be unknowable.

Thanks for the tip - everyone says buy it day of or day before maximum, so I will let go of my typical structured planning and we'll wing it! That will be part of the adventure.
