This is according to flightstats.com. KQ's own website doesn't show flight status (or I can't find where it does). I called their US office and they said they have no updated info and asked me to call Nairobi, but of course, it's the middle of the night right now and I can't reach anyone.

I decided to call AF as they market the KQ NBO-CDG-NBO flights under their code and they're telling me that AF8003/KQ112 on the 17th as well as AF8002/KQ113 on the 18th (the flight is non-daily and routes NBO-CDG on Tu/Th/Sa and CDG-NBO on We/Fr/Su) are canceled, but they don't know the reason. What's going on with this route?

My KQ flight on the 5th from NBO-CDG was full, but I was flying on a very popular day and, of course, it was leaving Kenya.
On the other hand, I believe my flight into Kenya (KGL-NBO) on the same day (also a 767) was less than 1/2 full.
That was 10 days ago, so I don't know if it is even relevant. I am sure others on here have more recent experience with the KQ loads.

I called Nairobi and they're saying it's mechanical. I find that a bit difficult to buy given that they're canceling flights 2 days out. I suspect they're trying to consolidate passengers onto one flight. I asked about the status of Saturday's flight and they said it was pending. I'm going to keep monitoring and see what happens this weekend. If they keep canceling, I'm going to start looking at possible backup options of getting us to NBO.

This all worried me, as I'm flying Kenya Airways from JHB to Kigali and then Kigali to London. I called Kenya Airways and they assured me international flights would not be cancelled. Hmmm. I sure hope that remains true.

May be relevant or may be idle gossip among KQ staff...
1. Apparently Kenya Airways have been one long haul aircraft short since the crash last year, and schedules are very tight as a result. Long, long delays are more common (I'm not saying common - but more common). I was told the Bangkok flight at least twice arrived nearly a day late in second half of last year. There may be only one aircraft flying the NBO-CDG route if it is non-daily, and if its due for maintenance they might have a lot of trouble getting a replacement out.
2. As I mentioned elsewhere, Kenyan cockpit crew were apparently reluctant to fly long haul and leave their families behind. Whether this is still the case I don't know.
Information transfer throughout the airline appears not always to be the best either.

I should add that I don't mean to unnecessarily alarm others. I don't know what the current status of KQ's intra-Africa flights are. I've only been monitoring the European routes for possible disruptions since the start of the post-election issues. I imagine LHR and AMS are a higher priority to operate than CDG. I was originally booked via AMS but changed to CDG for a better connection and now wish I hadn't done that!
Of course, flight operations could go back to normal and had I not been checking daily, I could've remained blissfully unaware of anything unusual, but my OCD requires that I micromanage things
Thanks for everyone's thoughts.
