We are taking a 7 day safari in June with Roys and afterwards will spend about 5 days in Zanzibar. We enjoy snorkeling & beach walking. We are a diverse group. A 14 year old, 82 year old & 2 40 somethings. Does anyone have any suggestions for reasonable beach accomodations? We were thinking of either Matemwe Beach Guesthouse or Pongwe Beach.
Thanks.

Both are good choices.
However, neither has air conditioning and June (year 'round, for that matter) is hot and humid. If this is a concern, especially for the "mature" adult in your group, inquire about properties with a/c.
Breezes and Blue Bay both have a/c. Both larger than Matemwe and Pongwe, you'd have to see how these fit with your budget... maybe the same or a bit higher - ask Roys about others.

Audrey,
I am not an a/c person, but I would really hesitate to book a place with no a/c for an 82-year-old. And this is coming from someone who has been looking longingly at Pongwe for almost 2 years!
However, do a search for those and other Zanzibar beach properties on this board; you'll find many comments from people who have visited.
Best of luck, and please enjoy your holiday--and your planning.

Check the below:

Lists many of the properties available on Zanzibar Island. Matemwe and Pongwe are on the Northeast coast. So too is Blue Bay. Breezes is on the Southeast coast. Any hotel with "bungalow" or "cottage" in the name, not likely to have a/c. The site a good guideline for when your speak further with Roys.

I just come across a gorgeous but not expensive beachfront villa I have on my list for a future family trip. Although it looks fab, it does not have AC. Take a look though at Villa Kikadini in the following links:
