Deposit wired, we are really going!
Our planning for Sept 2007 is becoming reality. Our deposit to Eastern and Southern has been sent. We now await the time when we can arrange all flights. We will continue to read and study.

Yep, all the talking and excitement is great, but when you put down a nonrefundable security deposit, then you start to feel like you are really going.
Just wait till you buy your tickets and get your shots!

I know what you mean. We sent our deposit for a July 07 safari about a month ago. We have all the flights as I booked those before I booked the safari.
So, I just sit and read. Not nearly as exciting as when I was actively booking the trip. But, the anticipation is all part of the trip and actually a bit fun (or is that frustration).
I am now looking at our post safari trip. We are going to rent a car in Amsterdam, drive to Germany to visit our son for a week then drive back and spend a couple of days in Amsterdam before coming back to the States. I just don't have as much enthusiasm booking this portion for the trip although I know it will be a blast.
enjoy,
Duane

I sent in my deposit to ESS a month ago for my August trip, but I have since made many changes to my accommodations as I read the trip reports, such as staying three nights at the Mara Serena and two nights at the Little Governors instead of five nights at the Mara Serena, up grade to the two-bedroom Ziwa Suite at the Lion Hill Lodge, and changing from Norfolk to Giraffe Manor. I also added the balloon ride at the Little Governors. Serah has been great in handling all my changes.
I think I will be excited until we landed in Africa! Don't know if I can keep this level of intensity up...

We just made our deposit, too, for September 07 to Tanzania/Zanzibar (which I have taken to calling Tanzibar). Now I'm just waiting impatiently until I can make flight reservations. We plan to spend one night in Amsterdam on the way there and 2 or 3 nights on the way back.

Hi Cdnfolks,
We leave for our trip on September 22, 2007 (from California), so you will probably have airfare information available before we do. I'm also getting anxious to know about the flight costs and schedules, just to be able to put a price tag on the whole trip (I know, I know, you're never supposed to add it all up...), and to know what our stopover city will be.
