89 days and counting for my first time to Africa!! I am ready now. Friends have organized the trip to Capetown, Chobe Game reserve in Botswana, Vic Falls, Namibia's Impalila Island, Zambia on a vintage train Sundowner cruise on Zambezi. 13 days.
Someone recommended using my neck pillow for a bean bag while on safari, thought that was a good suggestion.

30 days for me. Botswana this year - first Victoria Falls, then Chobe, Okavango Delta and Kalahari. So very excited! Leave 9-28 (as long as Delta doesn't cancel the 5:30am flight) and return on 10-17.

99 days to go
Spend 19 days in Uganda and Rwanda with Great Lakes Safaris seeing Murchison Falls Queen Elizabeth Park,Kibale forest,Nyungwe Forest, and the Gorillas in Rwanda as well as some of the Genocide memorials.
Then off for a 7 day Donkey Trek in Northern Kenya followed by getting married at Governors camp. Then off to Tsavo and a week in Watamu and Lamu.
Then to Tanzania to climb Kili and a Northern Circuit safari with 4 days in the Serengeti followed by a 6 day Highlands trek like the one Always Africa did (thanks for your report!)Then off to Zanzibar and possibly Mikindani.
Then fly to London for 6 days and then back to Canada.I've run out of money so any ideas on affordable hotels in London would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Dlo,
You might want to post the London question to the Europe board. However, I have a few suggestions:
If you will have email access whilst in Africa, you can try www.wotif.com, where quite a few hotels offload last minute vacancies (in the next two weeks) at discount rates.
One of the cheapest options in town is the new EasyHotel. Check it out on
http://www.easyhotel.com/
The rooms are small (and orange) but the rate is hard to beat.
If you want something with a bit more atmosphere (and a bit less orange) you might consider renting a flat for a week. Eating out in London is ruinously expensive even for Brits who get paid in pounds, so being able to cook your own food will save a huge amount of money.
Cheers,
Julian

11 days to go! Here's the itinerary for our 1st trip to Africa:
Fly Houston-Amsterdam-Capetown. Only a 2-hour layover in Schipol, not bad.
4 nights in Capetown, Wegelegen Guest House.
Fly Capetown-Nelpruit. Transfer to Singita Lembobo.
2 nights Singita Lembobo.
1 night Johannesburg.
Fly Johannesburg-Maun. Transfer to King's Pool.
3 nights King's Pool.
Tranfer to Vumbura Plains.
3 nights Vumbura Plains.
Fly Maun-Johannesburg-Amsterdam-Houston (whew!). 6 hour layovers in both Johannesburg and in Amsterdam. It will be a very long trip home.
We booked this through a travel agent in Houston who specializes in South Africa. She came highly recommended by a (South African) friend of my husband's. Wilderness Safaris is the operator for most everything we are doing.

Thanks for the reply Julian.Wotif is an awesome site and i can use it in stonetown. It is a little ambitious but we just had to drop the 3 weeks we had planned in Namibia.Which means either Namibia or Zambia in 2008!
I did'nt include the entire itinerary for the sake of brevity but outside of the gorillas(and my wedding of course)i am probably most excited about the donkey trek.If anyones interested check out www.samburutrails.com

roccco - how have you resolved your weight issue? I have just found out that I will be allowed a TOTAL of 26 lbs. I originally that I could have a carry-on that would not be weighed. Now I too have to scramble to get everything packed within the guidelines. I'm thinking of just packing a duffel and stuffing my purse to the gills. That way I can take it on the plane from JFK and not even have to check anything at all. As for the flights withing Africa, I will wear my photo vest, my heaviest clothing, fill my purse and hope for the best!!!
