Comrade Bob wins another election

Now that his opponent has fled to the Dutch embassy it looks like Mugabe will once again "win" the election.

In some of these African countries it sometimes seems their version of democracy is "one man, one vote, one time" with the winner keeping the job for life.

It truly is amazing how it can spiral down from horrible to unbelievable, all being done in plain sight of the African Union and the other African powers (some of whom are loyal to, and support, Mugabe).

... and how it evokes a sense of impotence among those of us who would like to see things change.

It's becoming a crisis in world leadership too. All the EU and US seem able to do is wring hands and pass resolutions. I also wonder how long Mbeki can make nice talk and do bupkis.

Yes, from horrible to unbelievable. I cannot imagine the dispair being felt there.

They can't Bob was their ally during the struggle. Mbeki's silent diplomacy is a gesture of solidarity against the west... I reckon!

Sucks that he (Mbeki) hasn't reviewed the ANC's constitution recently... human rights is paramount and in this instance he pays no attention to that particular clause, let alone the whole democracy thing.

Democracy is a privilege of the educated....
