camera suggestions

I am planning a 15 day safari to Kenya/Tanzania for August, followed by a 10 day trip to Egypt. I'm curious to know what type of camaras others have used on their safaris. I have a good quality digital camara at the moment.

Great time for Kenya/Tanzania!

If your digital zooms up to 10x, you may not need to get another one.

Do I have to buy a price camera?

3x zoom isn't enough I'm afraid, and you don't want to use digital zoom because the quality of the pictures deteriorates fast as it doesn't really zoom in, just crops the photo.
I would suggest you read the threads atravelynn posted.

I agree, you need more zoom. 8x or 10X optical would be good. Take the Casio for backup.

Tom is a real camera guy and says you need more zoom. I'm not a big camera person and say you need more zoom. You have the same suggestion from both ends of the spectrum.

Give yourself plenty of time to play with your new camera. Then post your results when you get back.

Didn't mean to leave out Hetismij. I just don't know if that advice is coming from a real camera person or someone like me.

Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it! I'm sure I'll have many more questions before my trip, so I'll definitely be back on here!
