Most important thing, they believed in getting into India before the Tigers vanished ........ Good on them!

The new website - don't know why - I get the feeling that they are designed pretty similar to some other operators.

Personally I like the name. But must admit that this "Bed Bath & Beyond" firm was unknown to me.

The Pantanal is mentioned, as I expected. But no details yet.

Anyone know if they're still looking for employees for Pantanal?

Ciao,

J.

Hari, yes.
Given that they seemed to be taking very seriously the role of training their Indian guides and staff to same standard as in their African properties, a standard rarely seen in Indian parks/ reserves, I live in hope that these standards will rub off on other companies in those same parks/ reserves.

Finally the "exciting news"!!! No more sleepless nights for me!!!

I predict - another name change about a year from now when they finally realize how confusing and non-descriptive that name is.

regards - tom
ps - what - in a year more "exciting news"??? More sleepless nights!!!

I would have assumed they'd be proud of their name and years of success; wanting to retain it in some fashion, such as:

CC Africa in India
CC Africa in South America
CC Africa (insert where)

or CCAfrica's India / South America

Have to agree, there might be another change as "&Beyond" doesn't say moch, let alone mean anything!

CCAfrica will always have a place in my heart as they were the group that introduced us to the African safari. We've been contemplating travel to South America, and I've just added &Beyond to my Travel Bookmarks.

First, I wonder if it is only the US market that would associate the new name with the store Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Don't know how widespread or international this retailer is.

Second, for many in the US market, that association might serve &Beyond well as a bed and a bath would be seen as required amenities when visiting "The Beyond."

Third, it is nice to see the ampersand put to use as a weapon against habitat destruction and wildlife extinction.

Re: Waders. Just today I began phone calls in my quest to legitimately don the waders again in July 2010, back with the bears in Alaska. In the meantime, they make a good Halloween costume with a flannel shirt and a fake fishing pole.

I mean &a fake fishing pole.

The really big news will be preserved habitat and species plus a livelihood for those who nearby.

You know what they say about the rose.

So the name change is really the big announcement? How very disappointing as I was expecting something interesting!

Kind regards

Kaye

If you look on the new andbeyond site, Bongani Mountain Lodge is no longer listed.

Does anyone know if they were sold? Or who now owns/manages them? Maybe they were just not beyond enough for them now?

According to this site:

http://www.royalafrica.co.za/newsletter.html

Bongani and CC Africa ended their lease at the end of March 2008.

Hari: that's the news I'm waiting for too!
