BBB (Better business bureau) equivalent in South Africa

I was looking at a lot of different tour operators for cape town, as there are SO many. I was wondering if South Africa has a BBB (Better business bureau) like we have in the states or something equivalent to it, so I can look at their reputation.

Welcome to South Africa's official tourism website
www.southafrica.net/sat/content/en/za/home
Always contact these nice folks to check on licensure etc.
Personally NEVER wire money always pay with CC and get trip cover. Good experience with Garth Jenman jenmansafaris.com
years past they really know their stuff. Astounding numbers of
touts and attack troll/spmmers on the boards check profiles posting history carefully. www.tourguides.viator.com always a safe bet for me.

Good luck!

Hi travel4425
Unfortunately we do not. But we do have SATSA who is the Governing Body of Tour Operators in Southern Africa. You may contact them on http://www.satsa.com/ if you have any queries. I personally have tried to get registered with BBB but they seem to be only interested in companies in the USA and NOT reputable companies in Africa or for that matter any Company not in the USA. Such a pity as to their narrow mindset.

Yours on Safari

From stories I hear the BBB (not a government nor public agency) in the USA is basically a scam to coverup and protect member businesses. Pay to join them and they give you a good rating and "front" you from bad publicity. (AAA club works the same way). I would assume same such worthlessness for over seas BBBs if they exist.
