Back from SA

We just returned yesterday from a 2 week trip to South Africa - Cape Town, Mala Mala Main Camp, and Ngala Tented Camp. We had a fabulous time. It was everything we expected and more! Thank you so much to all who helped us with the planning of this wonderful trip! It was our best vacation ever!! I will post a trip report as soon as I can.

I went to malamala and ngala in december 2008. How many leopards did you see at MalaMala?

I've been planning a similar trip for our family of 5 for August 2009. Can't wait for your report.

Craig,

We saw 3 leopards at MM, and also 2 adorable cubs high up on some rocks. Some times they were up there with their mother, and other times they were left there during the day while the mother was away. Beautiful animals!

Hi Carole

I am green with envy over you seeing the little cubs of the Ostrich Koppies Female - who I also saw as a two month old cub. I will be interested to hear who the other leopards you saw were - I have to live through the cyberdiary until I return in December. Shall also be interested in your trip report, especially the MM section.

Kind regards

Kaye

Hi Kaye,

We also saw the Kapen female leopard as she was stalking prey for a while in the evening; but then she gave up. We saw another one too, which Andrew (our ranger) explained uses the noise of the vehicle to hide the noise of her movements, stopping and starting as the vehicle stops and starts, very clever, and also amusing to observe. (I don't know the name of this leopard though). We were lucky to see the Ostrich Koppies female and cubs a number of times, up on the rocks, very playful and adorable.

Hi Carole

I am wondering if the female leopard was the Ngoboswan Female, an older female with a big female cub. Andrew B would have to be one of my favourite rangers though I do have a few.

Kind regards
