I have actually come up with techniques in an upcoming book that will help with the burred panning shots. Certain wildlife works with ultra slow shutter speeds, and some do not. It mostly depends on whether the particular animal bobs their head up and down, as well as if all 4 of their legs are of equal length (ie, wildebeest are very difficult, as they have longer front legs than their rear legs).

My shutter speeds range from 1/60 to 1/4 of a second....
