Africa here we come!
We leave tomorrow for our long anticipated trip to Kenya. Thanks to everyone here for answering so many of my questions...you have all been great! We packed yesterday, pretty much going by packing lists we've copied from this forum, again, so helpful. It looks like we will be ok weightwise, which I can't believe...
Here is an issue I haven't seen mentioned here before...my husband and I woke up yesterday with horrible head colds...all this planning, and it never occurred to me I might be sick with a cold! Well, we'll just have to deal with it...no cold medications allowed on the plane, though...should be interesting....
Bye to everyone...I'll come back (hopefully) with an interesting trip report!

Cindy, have a great trip, looking forward to your trip report.
I would pack decongestions and pain pills on the plane, the pills are allowed to take on the plane with you. There is nothing worse than a stuffy nose on the plane.

Have a wonderful trip Cindy and I can't wait to read all about it when you get back!
As long as the cold medication isn't gel cap-s it should be allowed on the plane - I'd take a chance and take it with me.
Have a FABULOUS trip and you will forget all about the cold anyways once you get there.

I'm just back from my first safari. It is an experience beyond compare. I think you'll probably forget all about your colds! Have you thought about trying Airborne? I've never tried it, but hear that it works wonders.
Have a wonderful time!

Thanks, guys for your kind words. I didn't realise you could bring non-prescription pills on the flight...I will try to bring decongestants with us, for sure.
Nevermind, we have been drinking the Airborne like crazy, and believe it or not, it seems to be working...we both feel better today...I can honestly recommend it.
Thanks again,
Cindy

Have a awesome trip. I wish we were with you. Take your cold medicine with you. I pack a full bag of medicines just in case. Also our guides asked if they could have our immodium and pepto bismo when we left. Hard for them to get. Betty

Cindy - Have a wonderful trip! I had a nasty cold when I left this year. One thing I noticed was that my ears plugged up horribly on the flights - they wouldn't pop. It was a tad painful. I never have this problem otherwise. If you can get some, take those "screw in" earplanes things. Some people swear by them and others say they don't work. I bought some in London after the Afrin didn't do much for me. (And I guess you can't take Afrin because it's a liquid?)
Also - take lots of throat lozenges if you tend to have dry coughs at the end of your colds, because you will be breathing in a lot of wind and dust on those drives.
Again - have a great time in Africa!!!
