Tunis hotel

Boy is it ever hard to find information on Tunisia!

Looking for a hotel in Tunis, something with some character, not too modern and close to down town/medina etc.

Any one got any ideas.?

thanks

My daughter stayed at the Sheraton in a combo air package two years ago flying from Sicily. She liked the hotel but it is not in the middle of town-they cabbed it everywhere.

thanks for your reply; am hoping for a more local hotel and not a big chain like Sheraton.

We stayed in the Tunisia Palace hotel, almost next door to the medina and Bab Bhar. It's decent and has free computer use. Website is http://www.goldenyasmin.com/tunisia-palace/en/index.htm.

Lonely Planet has a Tunisia guidebook - have you checked that? Or look on their website.

We stayed at Dar el Medina which is a very charming boutique style hotel in the Medina. To me it was the best possible location. There are some reviews on Trip Advisor. If you want a hotel with character and not a chain type check it out.
