Fodor's Expert Review Fork & Taco

Far from the expected price tag of the myriad street and trailer tacos that abound throughout the city, this new Burnet Road eatery boasts a distinctly upscale (read: pricey) take on the beloved local food group. Modern creations, like Asian pear chicken, crispy cauliflower and street corn, and jerk grouper with a scotchbonnet-rum crema, are inventive and expensive, but the setting remains casual, complete with bright, colorful interiors and a walk-up order counter. Simple sides include chips and guacamole and apple celery slaw, and there’s a decent selection of wine, beer, and seasonal sangrias.
