In the middle of Harvard Square, this restaurant strikes just the right balance between funky and urbane, with pink linens and fringes tempering the dining room's old-boy look. The Monday Club Bar offers a more casual, yet still chic, spot to nosh. Entrées aren't too straitlaced either; you might try a crispy skate wing with seared foie gras or a charcoaled lamb sirloin with Japanese eggplant on the side. Finish with an apple custard tart.

One of Cambridge's best restaurants, upscale but with plenty of playful twists. Excellent and creative food, very attractive decor, very capable service. Expensive but good, and you can save some money by eating at the Monday Club Bar downstairs.
