In the middle of Harvard Square, this restaurant strikes just the right balance between funky and urbane, with pink linens and fringes tempering the dining room's old-boy look. The renovated Monday Club Bar and a pizza-and-panini bar offer a more casual, yet still chic, spot to nosh. Entrées aren't too straitlaced either; you might try a lobster bouillabaisse or salmon with a divine mustard sauce. A thoughtfully chosen tasting menu includes a vegetarian option. Finish with the chocolate truffle parfait or vanilla fritters.

One of Cambridge's best restaurants, upscale but with plenty of playful twists. Excellent and creative food, very attractive decor, very capable service. Expensive but good, and you can save some money by eating at the Monday Club Bar downstairs.
