In the middle of Harvard Square, this multilevel restaurant strikes just the right balance between funky and urbane. The elegant, gold and pink Soiree Dining Room tempts with five- or seven-course tasting menus (which can be vegetarian or vegan upon request), as well as à la carte options like creamy lobster stew and roast duck with blood orange. The festive Monday Club Bar offers a more casual, yet still chic, spot to lunch, brunch, and sup on gourmet pizzas, hanger
steak, and impossible-to-resist milk chocolate pecan turtles served slightly cool so they don't melt (they rarely last that long).

One of Cambridge's best restaurants, upscale but with plenty of playful twists. Excellent and creative food, very attractive decor, very capable service. Expensive but good, and you can save some money by eating at the Monday Club Bar downstairs.

My husband and I enjoyed a fantastic dinner at UpStairs on the Square last weekend. First of all, a restaurant's decor is very important to me - it's a huge part of the overall experience. I can honestly say that UpStairs wins the prize as the loveliest dining room in Boston/Cambridge - romantically decadent! Now onto the other important ingredient to the "experience" - the food! The wood-charcoiled lamb was incredible, I am still thinking about
it. I would highly recommend UpStairs on the Square to anyone looking for a spot to celebrate a special occassion, or just looking for a great meal!
